Namibia: Reinventing Windhoek

Without us noticing or pretending not to notice, the end of Windhoek has begun, and with that our capital city has reached a critical point.

The persistent water crisis - due to poor rain, heatwaves and dropping water levels - facing the capital city is a well-known fact since Jonker Afrikaner, kaptein of the Orlam, erected the first stone church for his community in 1840, a foundation upon which colonial Windhoek would be later established by Curt von Francois in 1890.
