South Africa: Case Opened Against Senior ANC Leader

A case has been opened against a senior ANC leader, according to reports.

The ANC Western Cape said it would be releasing a statement soon, but would not confirm any details.

North West police spokesperson Sebata Mokgwabone told News24 on Friday that no one has been arrested. "A case has been opened and it's under investigation. I can't divulge what the case is, we will allow the investigations to continue and only once they are concluded can we determine if a person will be charged."

The SABC reported that police could not confirm whether the charge was one of sexual assault or rape.

This is a developing story. More details to come.
