The United Nations system in Sierra Leone has launched a nationwide campaign to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a set of seventeen development goals to be achieved by 2030. The SDGS were adopted last September by world leaders including H.E. President Ernest Bai Koroma.
On 21 January 2016 the United Nations in Sierra Leone in collaboration with Kenema City Council organized a one day photographic exhibition. The photographic exhibition highlights the seventeen SDGs and relevant photographs that represent the human and environmental situation with regards to development in Sierra Leone. The exhibition was open for the general public. Similar exhibition was held in Bo town as well. The UN in Sierra Leone also conducted a one day training for journalists in Kenema and Bo towns on last week. The objective of the media training is to familiarize journalists with the SDGs, and enable them to report and monitor objectively the progress and challenges in the implementation of the development agenda.
