Liberia: VP Closes Agenda 2030 Confab With a New National Slogan

Mpnrovia — Vice President Joseph Boakai has called on Liberians to think Liberia, love Liberia and build Liberia. He said it is only Liberians that can truly and unreservedly love and build a new nation on a transformed agenda of patriotism and development. The Vice President was speaking when he formally closed the Agenda 2030 conference at the Monrovia city hall on January 27. He said government remains hugely committed in pursuing the global development goals with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf's support and guidance. "The measure of success we derived from this noble undertaking will flow only from our sense of focus and duty. I submit to you that we will only see success when we are consistent, resolved and show collective determination to positively impact the people we are here to serve. This is something that involves all of us," Boakai stressed.

He lauded President Sirleaf's leadership role played in developing the global roadmap for development, which is popularly known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and a January 19 appointment of Nobel laurate Leymah Gbowee to a group of eminent advocates to help promote action to achieve the SDGs. VP Boakai said the outcome of the two-day deliberation should diligently formulate a roadmap that will guide the domestication of the SDGs to suit a local taste.
