Tanzania: Electrification Programme Reaches 5,900 Villages

Dodoma — About 5,900 out of 15,290 villages equivalent to 33 per cent have been connected with electricity through the Rural Energy Agency (REA) projects, it was disclosed in the National Assembly.

The remaining villages are lined up to get power during implementation of the third phase of REA projects scheduled to take off soon, Energy and Minerals minister, Prof Sospeter Muhongo, said.
