Togo to Host AU Summit On Maritime Security in October

The recent African Union (AU) summit in Addis Ababa decided that the maritime security and development summit in Africa will be held in Lome on Oct. 15, 2016.

The AU further recommended that the October summit adopts an African charter on maritime security and safety.

In addition, the AU accepted Togolese government's proposal to host a technical committee meeting preparing for the Lome summit.

Initially scheduled to take place between Nov. 4-7, 2015 in Lome, the summit was postponed due to delays in renovation of a hotel that was supposed to host the meeting.
