press release

Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros held talks with the President of the Pan African Parliament, H.E Roger Nkodo Dang today (February 1). H.E Roger N. Dang pointing Ethiopia's prominent place in Africa as "the heart of Africa", stressed the positive impact it would have on other African countries if it would sign and ratify the amendment made at Malabo, Equatorial Guinea at the 23rd Ordinary Session of the African Union on 27 June 2014.

The decision that was made by the Assembly was amendment of the Protocol establishing the Pan African Parliament vis a vis legislative powers as opposed to just being a consultative and advisory body. At the time, the meeting agreed that the PAP may exercise legislative powers on the subjects/areas that the Assembly would approve and/or propose model laws in accordance with its Parliamentary mandate.
