Algeria: Ban Ki-Moon Thanks President Bouteflika for Algeria's 'Leadership' Role in Climate Change Combat

Algiers — UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon voiced "sincere" thanks to President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika for the "leadership" role that Algeria plays in the combat against climate change.

"I want to express to you and your government, my sincere thanks for the leadership role that you play in the fight against climate change. It is thanks to you in particular that the 21st Session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change resulted in the adoption of the Paris Agreement on December 12, 2015," Ban wrote in his message to the Head of State.
