Ethiopia: Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros Meets Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz

H. E Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros holds discussions with a delegation led by H. E Foreign Minister of Austria Sebastian Kurz in his office today (February 2, 2016). The meeting coverd issues with particular focus on development cooperation, humanitarian assistance partnerships, and investment and regional issues. Dr. Tedros seized the opportunity and commended the partnership between Ethiopia and Austria and praised the Austrian Government's support and cooperation with Ethiopia. Dr. Tedros stated Austria's participation in the health, agriculture; education and micro-financing sectors development among others were instrumental. Answering a question about the investment environment in Ethiopia, Dr. Tedros briefed the delegation about the investment opportunities, convenient environment and the increasing foreign investment flow to Ethiopia. He said the investment environment in Ethiopia has shown remarkable improvements which has been witnessed by the large number of investment coming from all corners of the globe. Dr. Tedros appreciated the Austrian assistance for the current drought in Ethiopia. Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz.in his part mentioned that he would further insist the international community to raise the pledge for the El-Nino induced drought, at the European Union Ministers Meeting that will take place next week in Madrid. The Foreign Minister expressed that Ethiopia is a key African partner to Austria and requested the re-opening of Ethiopian Embassy in Vienna which he said would further be helpful. Dr. Tedros mentioned that the re-opening of the Embassy will be considered and stated that Ethiopia indeed values its relationship with Austria.
