South Africa: Body Found After Man Falls From Lion's Head

The body of a 26-year-old man was found in the early hours of this morning after he fell from the mountain while hiking on Lion's Head on Friday.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said an inquest has been opened.

"According to the information, last night at about 21:00 a man fell while hiking... and was fatally injured," she confirmed.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said their paramedics and Metro Rescue teams were called to the scene following reports.

He was found the next morning, hours after the fall.

"Tragically, it was found that the hiker had died before the arrival of the team," he said.
