Tanzania: By-Law On Stone Town Protection Begins Today

Zanzibar — In efforts to minimize risks of Zanzibar Stone Town losing its current status as a World Heritage Site, government will from today start implementing a traffic and parking by-law to regulate traffic and the parking of vehicles.

Both the Minister responsible for Land and Urban Development, Mr Ramadhan Abdalla Shaaban, and the Director General of the Zanzibar Stone Town Conservation and Development Authority (ZSTCDA), Mr Issa Sariboko, have warned that the site is on the verge of losing its status.
