Ethiopia: New Ethiopian Airlines Academy Launched On Sunday

Ethiopian Airlines inaugurated its refurbished Aviation Academy on Sunday (February 7). The newly refurbished academy, rebuilt at a cost of US$100 million, has education centers, with five strategic categories of studies for the pilot training school, aviation maintenance training school, commercial and ground service school and leadership school. The changes will allow for the Academy to increase its annual intake capacity to 4,000 students. It is now equipped with the B-777, B-787, B-737, B-767/757 and Q-400 flight simulators.

This allows the Academy, a full ICAO Trinnair Plus member, to be accredited by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as an authorized training centre. It was recognized as an Airline Training Services Provider of the Year in 2014 by AFRAA. At the inauguration on Sunday, Prime Minister Hailemaraim Dessalegn thanked the airline for "creating tens of thousands of high quality jobs for Ethiopians and the young men and women of Africa".
