Africa: Angola Hosts ICGLR Heads of State Summit

Luanda — Luanda City will host on Friday, February 12, the Heads of State and Government Summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), which will make an assessment of Angola's two-year mandate as chair of the ICGLR and its continuity at the helm of this regional organisation.

The summit is being preceded by the gathering of the organisation's Military Staff chiefs, defence ministers and foreign affairs. It is to focus on matters relating to the conflicts that affect the region, namely in countries like South Sudan, Burundi, Central African Republic (CAR) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), as well as the election of the new executive secretary and assistant secretary.
