Zambia: Hichilema Discards Shakafuswa

Katuba Member of Parliament Jonas Shakafuswa says his relationship with United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema is at its lowest.

Shakafuswa has been highly critical of his president. The outspoken Katuba lawmaker made a comeback to the UPND, a party he had previously ditched during the late President Levy Mwanawasa's rein.

He won a by-election following the death of Dr Patrick Chikusu. Shakafuswa has also been seen proudly associating with President Edgar Lungu, a matter that has riled several UPND members including Hichilema.

Below is his full posting on social media:

People have been asking me what is happening with my relationship with UPND. Well I will say my relationship with Party President HH is at its lowest. He has his reasons which I respect I hope he respects mine too.
