Eco-Artist teaches local community to handle garbage creatively
Until recently, a dumpster at Banda; a suburb about 10kms east of Kampala city, was a sprawling slew of fluttering green, red, and black discarded polythene bags, plastic bottles, and broken pieces of plastic junk. The ugly site was an unruly plastic garbage collection point right next to a busy taxi stage for one of Uganda's top centres of learning, Kyambogo University. People here collect the garbage and sell it to potential clients who recycle it to produce other household articles.
