The East African Community Heads of State Summit convenes in Arusha on March 2 with Burundi's political crisis standing out as the biggest challenge to the region currently.
Although the issue of Burundi has not been listed among the top agenda items at the 17th summit, the people of the region expect the leaders to address this issue as a matter of priority. That President Pierre Nkurunziza is likely to skip the summit after earlier promising to attend is a strong indication that all is not well in one of the partner states.
