Tanzania, Kenya in Move to Crush Poaching

Nairobi — Tanzanian and Kenyan conservationists have partnered with a US-based university to source for DNA material for 200 species of bird and animals highly targeted by poachers for commercial purposes.

The partnership between the Kenya Forest Service, Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute, Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania, National Museums of Kenya, Kenya Wildlife Service, International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), and the Smithsonian Institution will locally implement the project.
