Angola: President Returns From Congo

Luanda — The President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, returned Saturday evening, in Luanda, from Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, where he witnessed the swearing in ceremony of the Congolese head of state Denis Sassou Nguesso, who was re-elected for a third term.

At the International Airport "4 de Fevereiro", Eduardo dos Santos received welcome greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Manuel Vicente, accompanied by several members of the government, senior officials of the Presidency and the provincial governor of Luanda, Francisco Lopes Higino Carneiro.

The Angolan Head of State, who traveled at the company of the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Paula dos Santos, attended the investiture ceremony of Congolese President as the special guest and current leader of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

The inauguration ceremony of the Congolese statesman was also witnessed by sitting presidents of African countries, former heads of state, the Angolan Foreign minister, Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, diplomats and other guests.
