Amidst rising opposition against his alleged move to emerge the substantive national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, is said to have mobilized most members of the party's G-84 group to support him ahead the May 21 national convention of the party.
G-84, a major political block in the PDP is membered by 36 state chairmen, ex-officios, deputy national officers and the zonal vice chairmen of the party. They are also members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of PDP, the second major decision organ of the party.
