Sudan: Khartoum State Governor Underlines the Need to Revitalize the Cooperatives

Khartoum — The Governor of Khartoum state has stressed the need to revitalize the economic cooperatives in the state with the view to provide a service that alleviate the burden of economic hardship on the citizens of Khartoum, taking into consideration the contrast between the free economic market and the cooperatives work.

Lt Gen Abdul Rahim Mohamed Hussein, the Governor of Khartoum state, told workshop on how to revitalize the cooperatives under the themes of "no alternative for the cooperatives but the cooperatives themselves," that the conferees should come out with clear standing on the utility of the cooperatives and how the cooperatives could help provide all or some basic commodities to people. He also said it was imperative to study why the role of the cooperatives has waned recently.
