The Ethiopian National Disaster Risk Management Commission announced, last week, that floods are predicted to put the lives of nearly half a million people at risk.
According to a flood early warning plan, Dire Dawa and eight of the nation's regions, excluding Benshangul Gumuz, are expected to be affected. The plan also indicates that 188.9 million Br has been allocated to prevent flooding and an additional 40.2 million Br to control the possible outbreak of disease.
