Sudan: Amin - Darfur Rebel Movements Call On Merger of African and Qatar Mediations, Is Attempt to Double - Pass the African Roadmap

Khartoum — Dr Amin Hassan Omar, responsible for the Darfur Peace follow up Office, has explained that the call by the Darfur rebel movements, the Dibrell and the Mini factions, for a merger of the African Mediation and the Qatari mediation, is but an attempt to bypass the Road Map, which the government delegation signed and which the rebels failed to sign.

The African mediation is led by the former South African President Thabo Mbeki, the Chair of the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) while the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPC) is led by the Qatar and comprises the African Union, the UN, and the Arab league among others.
