Africa: Cosatu Africa Day Statement

press release

COSATU joins the millions of Africans on the continent and in the diaspora in celebrating the day which is our common heritage and space for reflection about the present and the future of our beloved continent.

Africa has travelled a long journey through the colonial period and the heroic liberation struggles that affirmed our right to rule ourselves as a people. This struggle was as much about freedom from colonialism and imperialism, as it was about freedom from poverty, corruption, dictatorship and underdevelopment.
