Ethiopia: Political Parties Laud Evolving Multi-Party System but Divided On Its Practice

Some Ethiopian opposition political parties said slight positive changes have been observed in terms of promoting multi-party system after May 28 victory but took a step back after 2005 election while the ruling party, EPRDF argues that opposition parties have failed to seize the opportunity due to their own limitations.

Opposition political party leaders Ethiopian Press Agency approached journalists said that the commencement of multi-party system after the downfall of the Derg regime was a milestone, but the nation is experiencing downward trajectory after 2005 election. But the ruling party says opposition parties failed to embrace the values of multi-party system.
