Mixed reactions have trailed last Tuesday's open declaration by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, that the Nigerian economy was on the brink of a recession.
Mr. Emefiele said at the end of the monetary policy committee meeting in Abuja that despite the warning in July 2015 about an imminent recession, efforts by the bank appear insufficient to avert further contraction in the economy.
