Sudan: South Darfur Imam Slain in Pre-Dawn Raid

El Radoom / Kass / Tabit — A South Darfur Imam who was also treasurer for the local gold exploration workers was shot dead in his home during a pre-dawn raid on Wednesday. A witness told Radio Dabanga that two militiamen riding a motorcycle raided Imam Mekki Ahmed Mekki's home at Singi administrative unit of El Radoom locality in South Darfur at 1.30 am.

The attackers fired three bullets onto Mekki's head and chest, killing him instantly. They then robbed him of SDG150,000 ($24,600) and fled.
