African Gender and Development Index (Agdi)

Addis Ababa — The African Center for Gender/Social Development Policy Division (SDPD) is organizing a methodology workshop for the fourth phase of the African Gender and Development Index (AGDI) from 7-8 June 2016 at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Addis Ababa. The workshop is intended to build capacity of the national research teams to effectively carry out the national studies required for the index.

The Workshop will bring together gender and statistics experts from 11 countries namely; Angola, Chad, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Sao Tome & Principe, South Sudan, Sudan and Cameroon as well as gender focal points from the ECA subregional offices, representatives of United Nations agencies based in Addis Ababa and the African Development Bank. The fourth phase of AGDI will bring a total of 49 countries which have undertaken the AGDI studies across Africa.
