Ethiopia: Report Confirms Crimes Against Humanity in Eritrea

opinion

After repeated reports that show Eritrean leaders have been deeply engaged in committing serious crimes against their own people, large number of prominent international media and activists have been digging out to come up with concrete evidences and inform the international community on what is happening inside Eritrea. Lately, the UN has given due attention to the case and established an independent inquiry body to objectively look into it. The inquiry commission, after having examined the crime through all possible means, came up with an 800 page conclusion report that serious crimes against humanity including genocide have been committed inside Eritrea by the officials. The report released in June 2015 detailed that forced labour, raping, enslavement, forced conscription, killing, torture, forced disappearance, and all sorts of crimes against humanity have been committed throughout the tiny nation of Eritrea. The report again reiterated that genocide acts against Kunama, Saho and Afar nationalities were committed deliberately by officials in Asmara.

Offended by the report, wide and strongly organized, peaceful but emotional demonstrations were held by million Eritreans all over the world in support of the report and demanded the international community to take appropriate actions and stop the widespread and systematic crimes. They went to nearby embassies and UN offices to call upon them to side with the people of Eritrea and stop their unfortunate agonies caused by the officials in Eritrea.
