Prolonged drought in Eastern Province has left 12 sectors without food, with an estimated 44,000 families facing starvation in the districts of Kayonza, Nyagatare, Kirehe and Rwamagana.
The governor of Eastern Province, Odette Uwamaliya said affected residents should approach local officials or go to other areas in the country instead of fleeing to neighboring countries.
