Kenya: One Hurdle Ahead of IEBC Talks

Jubilee and Cord leaders on Tuesday made headway in setting the stage for talks on the future of the electoral commission when they cleared one more hurdle on how the process will be concluded.

Cord leader Raila Odinga and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale told the Nation that there will be no need for Mr Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta to sign an agreement at the end of the talks. Instead, they will issue statements supporting the agreement that will be reached by the 14 elected representatives that the parties will pick to sit on the Select Committee of the National Assembly. The agreement will then be tabled in the House for adoption.
