The Harare City Council human resources committee shot down a recommendation by city officials to offer its water director Engineer Christopher Zvobgo a six month fixed term performance contract. The contract expired end of May. Acting town clerk Dr Cainos Chingombe had recommended that Eng Zvobgo be offered a contract. Eng Zvobgo was overseeing a major rehabilitation project at Morton Jaffray Water Works.
The committee said Eng Zvobgo's contract had been renewed on two occasions since he was retired and the position of director of Harare Water should have been filled substantively.
