Namibia: Chinese Go Free in Kidnapping Case

All charges against two Chinese men who have spent close to two and a half years in police custody in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a compatriot at the end of 2013 were withdrawn in the Windhoek Regional Court this week.

The charges against Fu Quanyi (28) and Yang Chaochao (27), and also against two Namibian co-accused, Jason Nghidiputate Jason (25) and Simon Nyanyukweni Nepolo (32), were withdrawn on Wednesday after public prosecutor Filemon Nyau informed magistrate Alexis Diergaardt that the complainant in the matter and some witnesses had returned to China and could not be traced.
