South Africa: Eastern Cape Legislature Holds Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians' Gender Advocacy Sessions, 28 Jun

The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature (ECPL) as a Commonwealth Women Parliamentarian (CWP) Sub-National Branch in partnership with the OR Tambo District Municipality will host Gender Advocacy Sessions in the district. The two-day programme will commence on Tuesday, 28 June 2016, with a Gender Advocacy Dialogue. A Gender Advocacy Workshop is also scheduled for Wednesday, 29 June 2016 and both sessions will take place at the OR Tambo Municipality Hall, Southernwood in Mthatha at 9h00.

The CWP are members of the Commonwealth Parliamentarian Association (CPA), founded by women delegates at the 1898 CPA Plenary Conference. It was formally recognised in the CPA Constitution in 2004. The CWP Africa Region is a branch of CWP International and constitutes of 19 National Branches from African countries including 36 Sub-National Branches from Nigeria and 9 Sub-National Branches and the ECPL being one of the Sub-National Branches.
