Wrangles between Bunyoro kingdom and the National Forestry Authority (NFA) are far from over. The kingdom is once again under the spotlight after the police stopped it from giving away 8,000 hectares of Bugoma central forest reserve to a sugarcane company. Police say the land is part of Bugoma forest reserve, which, by law, should be left pristine.
The area under contention is Muhangaizima block compartments MU7, MU8, MU10 and MU11, which run through the sub-counties of Kyangwali, Kabwoya and Kiziranfumbi in Buh- aguzi county in the oil-rich district of Hoima.
