The majority of Tanzanians use roads. So when they are no longer so safe, it is a national problem. For air transport, it's for a privileged few, and for the railway, though popular, it has been erratic and not modernised. Only a small section of the population depends on it.
Statistics show over 70 per cent of the people use roads. Thus road transport plays a pivotal role in the national economy, the well being of the country and even national security.
