Mauritius Observes World Population Day

To mark World Population Day 2016, observed annually on 11 July, the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports organised a half-day forum this morning at Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre in Bell Village on the theme 'Investing in Teenage Girls'.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Health and Quality of Life, Mr Anil Gayan, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Yogida Sawmynaden, and other personalities. In their address to the 200 young people participating in the forum, both Ministers stated that while adolescence is a vulnerable stage as teenagers face the difficult transition to adulthood, parents, teachers and society have an important role in supporting the adolescents and helping them cope with the various issues.
