BBC Afrique Launches On TV in Senegal

Dakar — Starting on Mon 18 July at 8.30 PM local time, BBC Afrique will be bringing audiences in Senegal BBC Infos on Dunyaa TV (DTV), for the first time. This special first edition of BBC Infos will bring local stories from the country and will be preceded by a jointly-hosted launch show on DTV. Features will include a look at wrestling in Senegal and a new phone app from a young inventor from Dakar that will help people get around the city.

On Tues 19 July, BBC Afrique Radio (available on 105.6 FM in Senegal) will be bringing listeners a special debate recorded in Dakar and looking at Africa's youth and digital entrepreneurship.

Our team in Dakar will continue to bring unique and important stories to Senegal from the rest of the world as well as making local stories resonate internationally".

The BBC Afrique service reaches 14.8 million people on a weekly basis and provides content for 23 countries across francophone Africa. Three new TV programmes will be available for the audience in Senegal. BBC Infos is the service's flagship 15 minute TV show bringing viewers the main news headlines every weekday with presenters Léone Ouedraogo, Olivier Weber and Vénuste Nshimiyimana. Every Saturday, BBC Eco covers the latest stories on the African and international economy and on Sundays BBC Hebdo provides viewers with a summary of the week's news. BBC Afrique TV programming is currently enjoyed by audiences around West and Central Africa including in Guinea, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, DRC and Niger.
