Azikiwe Street in the heart of Dar es Salaam city is having a face lift. It is unusual in Dar es Salaam that a street can take so much attention and time of the authorities. But there is a meaning to it and the authorities are trying to send a message.
What so far has taken place on the street points to inaction we have treated the city's environment with and makes or should make many feel not to have been responsible enough. I was along Azikiwe Street and the sight so shocked me that I thought that I might have got lost and was on a different part of the city.
