Tarime — The government has said it will find a new water source for Nyamongo residents amid allegations that the river they currently depend on has been contaminated by toxic waste from a nearby mine.
At a meeting with the villagers held on Tuesday, Energy and Minerals minister Sospeter Muhongo confirmed reports that Tigite River was no longer a safe water source due to mining activities in the area. There are reports that it is allegedly contaminated with toxins from Acacia North Mara Gold mine.
