Mauritius: Workshop On National Drug Observatory and Drug Dependence Treatment Kicks Off in Port Louis

A five-day training workshop on National Drug Observatory and Drug Dependence Treatment organised by the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, kicked off yesterday at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel in Port Louis.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of Health and Quality of Life, Mr Anil Gayan, expressed his ambition for Mauritius to be drug free and called on all Mauritians to be committed and determined to win the war against drugs. Mr Gayan pointed out that everyone has the responsibility and duty to denounce and disclose any information related to drug trafficking. Prevention should become priority in schools, youth clubs and within families, and urged religious bodies to be part of the process, he said.
