Reports on the mysterious killings of an elderly couple in Nyag'holongo Village, Bukombe District in Mara Region, as reported by The Citizen yesterday, are shocking both by their content and cause. The couple was hacked to death by irate villagers who suspected them of being witches, allegations that are both foolish and scientifically unverifiable.

This comes against a backdrop of albino killings, which have left this vulnerable group living in perpetual fear. And most of the albino killings are associated with what unconscionable witchdoctors tell their weak-minded clients.
