Ethiopia: So Called Rights Groups - Trying to Be 'More Catholic Than the Pope'

editorial

It is to be recalled that Ethiopia's Feyisa Lilesa crosses his arms at the finish line of the Men's Marathon event as a protest against the Ethiopian government. Feyisa's staging political protest contradict International Olympic Committees restrictions on making political statements during the Games. Following to his protests against the government, many speculate he would be punished for staging his protest, despite Ethiopian government assurances he would not face any if he comes back. Rights groups such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch echoed concerns of human rights issues, political space so and so forth following Feyisa's saga.

Obliviously, the so called human rights groups and affiliates issue condemnations against the Ethiopian government whenever they have a chance. In relation to the recent violence erupted in some parts of the country they have been fabricating several blunt reports and condemnations. To mention some but few, groups such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, CPJ, among others lined up to oppose Ethiopia's legal frameworks and regulations. On the other hand, groups such as International Rivers, Friends of Lake Turkana, and Habitat International tirelessly oppose Ethiopia's quest for development of mega projects implemented to lift the country out of poverty. These groups blatantly oppose to prevent Ethiopia from developing its clean energy resources and green power schemes.
