Small scale farming owned by poor farmers is one of the most marginalized sectors, which lack access to credit. As a rain fed and nature dependent task,it fails to attract long term investment because it is regarded as a high business risk venture.

As usual practicing small scale farming never helps to meet food security to say nothing about realizing development objectives. To enhance productivity and transform the sector,it must be backed with sufficient inputs such as fertilizer,pesticides, herbicides and select seeds . But to obtain these inputs, farmers should be supported by some kind of credit facilities as their income doesn't stretch beyond a hand- to- mouth living to cover such expenses.
