Uganda: Kabale Wells Closed Over Faecal Contamination

Kabale — National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in conjunction with Kabale Municipal Council health department officials and the police have embarked on the closure of illegally drilled shallow water wells on ground that they are contaminated with faecal matter.

The manager NWSC Kabale branch, Mr Lenny Otai and the Kabale principal health officer Andrew Beija, on Monday said about 20 illegal shallow water wells constructed in prominent hotels and schools shall be closed this week to save the users from contracting dirty water-related diseases.
