Water shortage, power cut, unavailability and high cost of packaging materials and raw materials, as well as lack of technology-skilled labor are issues that are hampering agro-processing, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical and chemical industries in Rwanda, according to a new study.
The 'Research and Technology Assessment,' commissioned by the National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA), shows that availability and suitability of raw materials for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries is 91%, but 46% of businesses in those sector complain that there are not enough raw materials.
