At exactly 2.14pm, Thursday, I jumped off the boda boda at Uganda Manufacturer's Association show grounds in Lugogo. A boy seemingly in his late teens approached me: "boss, ndeete ka lollipop oba ka orbit?" He was hawking an assortment of sweets, lollipops, chewing gum, biscuits and chocolates. I ignored him. His competitors and others selling apples, and crafts shoes filled the tarmac to the main entry of the show grounds.
Another shabbily dressed man, however, stole the show with his feminine gait, "the show has already begun", I thought to myself. We snaked through the tiny path amid the muddy parking lot to get our tickets.
