South Africa: Suspect to Appear in Court for Unlicensed Firearms and Ammunition

Today, 25 October 2016 at about 8.00, members from National Mobile Train unit were conducting crime prevention duties at Verulam area when they followed up information about suspected stolen vehicles and illegal firearms at High street in Verulam. The members went to a premises and saw two vehicles fitting the same description given to them.

A white Suzuki vehicle was circulated and was positively linked to a hijacking case at Mthunzini area in May 2016. When the members requested the keys from the suspect, he could not give a satisfactory explanation and the members had to break a side window of the said vehicle in order to search it. Inside the vehicle, three rifles, two R5 and one AK47 with four fully loaded magazines were recovered.
