Sudan: Dead, Wounded in Darfur Militia Violence

Wadi Saleh / Nyala — A displaced man has died and several others wounded in violent incidents across Darfur. A witness told Radio Dabanga that Younus Jaqoob Abdel Mawala and his family were returning through the Pellja Valley, near Wadi Saleh in Central Darfur on Wednesday, from a day's farming. At 6.30 pm, they were ambushed by a band of Abbala militiamen, who intended to rape Mawala's daughters.

When he confronted them to protect his daughters, they shot him dead on the spot.
