The contentious clause in the Protected Disclosure Amendment Bill, which criminalises intentionally disclosing false information, survived today when the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services agreed that it must stay in the Bill.
This came as the Committee adjourned yesterday to give the multiparty Committee time to reflect on the matter. Some MPs felt the clause should be removed from the Bill, as they believed it will discourage whistle blowers as they will have to verify the authenticity of information before disclosing it.
