Maputo — The international team mediating in the talks between the Mozambican government and the Renamo rebels has pledged to draw up a new proposal on decentralization, which can win consensus from both sides.
According to the coordinator of the mediators, European Union representative Mario Raffaelli, the mediating team met again on Wednesday with each side separately. This has been the mediators' preferred way of working since the fourth round of talks in October. It means that the joint commission between the government and Renamo scarcely ever meets in plenary session.
